Subject:Yes We Can
Time:11:26 pm
This is obviously an historic night. John McCain just conceded the election to Barack Obama. Obama's presence in the White House changes so many things before he even does a thing. Now, those of us that supported him need to roll up our sleeves and actually help him get the job done. It won't be easy, even with what looks like a unbeatable democrat majority in congress.

Every peron who hated America from afar has to wonder if they know Americans as well as they thought they did.

IT was going to be one of Rabbit's busy days. As soon as he woke up he felt important, as if everything depended upon him. It was just the day for Organizing Something, or for Writing a Notice Signed Rabbit, or for Seeing What Everybody Else Thought About It. It was a perfect morning for hurrying round to Pooh, and saying, "Very well, then, I'll tell Piglet," and then going to Piglet, and saying, "Pooh thinks--but perhaps I'd better see Owl first." It was a Captainish sort of day, when everybody said, "Yes, Rabbit " and "No, Rabbit," and waited until he had told them.

You scored as Rabbit!

ABOUT RABBIT: Rabbit is generally considered Clever by his many friends and relations. He is actually a much better reader and writer than Owl, but he doesn't consider it worth mentioning. Instead, Rabbit's real talent lies in Organizing Plans. He organizes rescue parties, makes schemes to reduce Tigger's bounciness, and goes on missions to find out what Christopher Robin does when he's not at the Hundred Acre Woods. Sometimes, however, his Plans do not always go as Planned.

WHAT THIS SAYS ABOUT YOU: You are smart, practical and you plan ahead. People sometimes think that you don't stress or worry, but this is not the case. You are the kind of person who worries in a practical way. You think a) What are my anxieties about and b)what can be done about them? No useless fretting for you. You don't see the point in sitting around and waiting for things to work out, when you could actually work them out today and save yourself a lot of time and worry. Your friends tend to rely on you, because they know that they can trust you help them work things out.

You sometimes tend to be impatient with people who are less practical in their ways. You don't have much patience for idiots who moan about things but never actually DO anything about them. You have high expectations of everyone, including yourself. When you don't succeed at something, or when something goes wrong despite your best efforts to prevent it, you can get quite hard on yourself. You need to cut yourself some slack and accept that everyone has their faults, even you, and THAT IS OKAY. Let yourself be faulty, every now and then, for the sake of your own sanity.

I guess it has been quite some time since I've posted anything but You-Tube crap. I should be writing my column for Sports Grumblings right now but I'm just not there yet.

I like my new job. After two years plus of taking random shitty jobs its cool to be able to say that. I actually thought it was going to be another shitty job at first but I really have grown to like it. I still have hopes that the ESPN thing will turn into a real job at some point but I'll take the puny checks every month and be happy for now.

My mom is back home and rehabbing her new knees. She'll be jogging around Fresh Pond before you know it. My Dad looks like he's getting younger and stronger everyday. This despite dealing with cancer, transplants and heart surgery over the last few years. They've basically just adopted DeShawn and Sydney which I hate that they have to do but it has to be better for them than being with Nicole and her string of ex-cons. Plus, I get to see them a lot more often.

Oliver and Wanda are having a kid. Is it possible to find something surreal and not surprising at the same time?

Bah, I'm gonna watch a movie or something...

With A-Rod so apparently sensitive to what others think of him this piece in Peter Abraham's blog made me smile:

http://yankees.lohudblogs.com/2007/02/24/crowd-rises-to-a-rods-defense/

Crowd rises to A-Rod’s defense
from The LoHud Yankees Blog by Peter Abraham

There was a small crowd at Legends Field today, maybe 1,000 people, and the music was softer than it usually is.

So it was easy to hear when some joker yelled out, “Hey, A-Rod, you suck!” as Alex Rodriguez was leaving the batting cage after taking a few swings against Kei Igawa.

Even Rodriguez turned and look at the guy, who was wearing a Dartmouth t-shirt. It sort of made you wince because you knew everybody had heard it. A few people turned and told the guy to shut up.

When it was Rodriguez’s turn again, the crowd gave him a nice ovation with some fans standing and shouting encouragement. He cracked a ball into right field and the cheers got even louder.

What does this all mean? Hard to say. But I get the sense that most Yankee fans want to cut the guy a break and are pulling for him.

Go to http://www.popCulturemadness.com and select the year you became 18. Paste the list of the top 75 songs. Bold the ones you liked; strike the ones you disliked; and italicize the ones you know but don't exactly like nor dislike. The ones you don't know will stay common text.

IF YOUR LIFE WAS A MOVIE, WHAT WOULD THE SOUNDTRACK BE?
So, here's how it works:
1. Open your library (iTunes, Winamp, Media Player, iPod, etc)
2. Put it on shuffle
3. Press play
4. For every question, type the song that's playing
5. When you go to a new question, press the next button

There is a grade school pep rally going on outside my window. It sorta disturbs me that I keep thinking about the Woodsman as I watch them parade around shouting and chanting for defense.

One of the sites I've been writing for has been out of touch for months now. They have not responded to e-mails or phone calls or posts on the private message board. They also haven't sent any checks. I was living with that but I became quite angry after finding new ads and changes to my banner on the site this morning. I am tempted to delete every page on the site but what would that gain me?

Jill,

Did you see this in Variety?

Tower Feeling A Little Empty

Front Page: Co. falling under weight of unpaid bills -- The four major music distributors have stopped shipping CDs to Tower Records, and DVD suppliers are starting to follow suit. Come Tuesday, it's quite possible that shelves at Tower's 89 stores will be devoid of new releases by Breaking Benjamin, Slayer and Nina Gordon.
